The celebrity of athletes

I have met a lot of people. I've met singers, actors and comedians, but my least favorite are athletes. On television their presentation comes off as a guy who believes in teamwork and giving back to the community.( Off the cameras they are a complete different person. Athletes tend to make money with endorsements such as, Nike, Gatorade, Reebok, Propel and  TNT and some even model. Some athletes get offered to be in movies, music videos and even do voices for cartoons. There expanding there fame by venturing off into different business. Because their not limiting themselves to just sports, it influence our next generation to go after there dreams because anything is possible and there isn't a limitation on how much you can succeed. I think endorsements helps some of the athletes because it lets people know that there just not a person who throws  footballs or make shoots, they're letting people know they have a voice and other talents.

I found that a lot athletes get caught up into sex scandals. Tiger Woods was one of the most talked about scandals. Michael Vick was sued for knowingly giving a girl herpes; and when 17 players of the Minnesota Vikings didn't bring there proper bedroom etiquette to a cruise they left condoms, KY jelly, wet wipes, and sex toys for the maid to clean up. I'm not saying that they shouldn't be able to get it on, but just because there athletes doesn't mean they shouldn't get there mess up or they have to be so messy about they whole situation. It always seems as if when they start losing there self control they start losing in the game. Usually, when sex scandals start arising shorty and they're  Public relation person try to clean it up. If  they don't do a good job an announcement will be made that person is resigning or being asked to step down from a position.

Are they role models?  If its that's genuine good guy we see on television I would say yes.If its that person that gives back to the community and try to make a difference i would differently say yes. Being as though the life as an athlete or any other of celebrity isn't easy most of them fall into the temptations that come along with the industry. I'm NOT saying there not human and shouldn't be entitled to mistakes. When they signed a contract to be in the public eye they should carry themselves accordingly. Its certain responsibility to be upheld. Even though they will be times of them doing things that we may not all agree on
but they should have people around them that they can trust instead having friends take pictures of you doing whatever and posting it on tweeter or Facebook.

How artists are making it today?

Artists are trying to make a living from every angle. Their selling clothes, jewelry, purses, hair-weaves if you name it they invested in it. They found ways to make money instead of depending on their manager to call shoots. Most artists link up with companies to get endorsement deals. Usually artists start a trend with a product, then the next thing you know its a must have. Online there's  a picture of some celebrity  holding a Michael Kors bag and  now the store is flooded of a new clientele, then the endorsements starts. Sometimes its as if the stumble upon endorsements. Some artist save money by having a twitter account, Facebook, Myspace  or instagram to advertise themselves to keep themselves relevant. They constantly  let people know when there album is being released, and they're  fans follow them and they have a direct link to the artist. They feel as if they have a personal connection when they get to see a glimpse of the artist personal life.

For the most part sex sells. Artists are wearing less clothes and higher heels. Sexier dance routines  and attractive men or woman to lure the crowd in. When pictures get linked to places such as Bossip, TMZ, or mediatakeout, its not by accident. Those pictures are to keep them relevant and to keep them on the most Google inquiry. Sex tapes are linked at least once every three months from people who have slowly faded out the lime life.

A couple of people have been discovered off of the Internet such as Justin Bieber, Dondria, Souljia Boy, and  Non stop. ( I more than sure there is more) Everyone is self promoting themselves. Eventually it will start affecting the record company, because there not providing as much resources as they used to. Record producers used to have to work hard but not with the way technology is growing . With new marketing strategies everyone listening to there I pod  or listening to slacker from there phone. Yes it is destroying the radio. Its not hurting them right now but sooner or later it will be. People buy cds to have the hard copy, but also the whole CD is on spotify why even waste your money  buying cds.

To sum thing up, this past decade of music videos and marketing strategies has change. The industry doesn't have to many passionate artists who put a lot of work into the music. They come out with one hot song and a horrible music video that doesn't even match the song.

Shouting the news

For the first time I sat in class today and watch Bill O' Reilly. I have heard his name before but he isn't relevant enough to me to look at his show or anything that he is on. But today as I watch him in action it gave me more of a reason not to watch anything that he is on. His demeanor is arrogant. When he was interviewing Jeremy Glick he heard what he wanted to hear and took his words and turned them around to something that was true.He made Jeremy look as if he was the bad guy. The issue that was talked about left the guy in a corner trying to box him self out. Yes BILL O' Reilly is rude disrespectful,he yells and a there's a whole bunch of other names that I would't be able to say on this blog. I guess his hook phrase is shut up when he knows someone is going to make a valid point that would make him look less of a news commentator. When your working for a conservative station such as fox you are trained and have certain standards that you must abide by.  After watching the movie Outfoxed it gave me a whole different aspect of being careful of what your watching and what type of information that is being put on television

. Fox just give a one-sided point of view so we can see the glam and the glitter of the republicans. Its hardly ever anything shameless about republicans. Since 2012 elections coming around and I have been watching the new I just notice I have only seen 1 commercial with Barack Obama about his re-election. I have seen several commercial with Romney or something that pertains to him. The delivery of the new is an opinion more-so than facts. I think that its a certain script that the commentators has to stick to and even though the may have their own opinion or may know whats really right but while there on TV they better not share it. If it is shared there probably some type of repercussion.

Nancy Grace came off as a passionate, strong opinionated, emotional, a lot of expression, a little name calling but overall all she is she is straight forward.  This is also my first time watching a full 61 mins of her show. I like her show. I see her catch phrase is calling people out which she did and did a hell of a job doing it. This show aired on 10/18  this one wasn't about politics it was about a teen dad the killed is 6 month old daughter and only get 90 days in jail. Nancy was outrage. she couldn't believe  and I couldn't either. She called out judges, parents, prosecutors whomever had any type of connection to the case was called out. Nancy has no hold back. To me I think she don't like people who seem as if they are going to give her bs response. She did give people a chance to talk. She didn't seem as if she had a script sitting in front of her that she must go of or some type of agenda. She works for and unbiased station that has more liberals. Even though the news station may present themselves as liberals they may lean more towards the democratic side. It also depends on how the news station is ran. I really like this show I plan on looking at the next episode.

Overall I have learned something new. I learned that we most be careful of what we watch because its a message that is being sent out to you wouldn't even notice. The way I look at the form of news that is being delivered is shameless.Basically, we have to do our own research to find out the real news and after we do our research, then we have to do research on the research to find out what is fact or an opinion. At the end of it all we have to use own discretion when watching the news or any other shows.

Real or unreal

About 2 or 3 months ago I found myself flipping the television trying to find something to watch on TV that would actually keep my full attention. I have never really looked at reality TV  because I always found that everyone ended up looking ghetto or doing something that would embarrass themselves. I turned my channel to VH1 and I see the show Love & Hip hop Atlanta  (LHHA). I caught the show in the middle and of course there goes Scrappy mother right there on the television. I started watching the show in disbelief that they would let this lady act like this on national television.

As I continue to watch the show, I sat there thinking to my self that this show has to be scripted and there is no way that we have gotten to this all time low to entertain people. Some of us look at shows, photos, videos and etc that have been out of the "NORM" but when it come to people private life's on television that's a different story. The arguing, fighting, and drinking all day isn't a normal life. Its not one reality show that I haven't seen a person not drinking or partying til they almost pass out.  Its no longer private when you allowed them to air your personal life. We are making these people famous and potential role models for kids. ( NOT ME) They wouldn't be famous if we didn't entertain this foolishness.

Even though some of the reality TV stars say's that they are not role models and that's what they have they parents for. The statement alone shows you how ignorant some of them are. What make matters worse they have children. Most people are judgmental and find a way to attack the person rather it is a blogger, journalist or just some random person making a comment about the things that your going through in their personal life that is being exploited . Then in response from the so called TV stars they do interviews and post videos say they don't give a (you fill in the words) and that's my life its not for anyone to judge me. ( SMDH) But if you watch this 32 second clip you would automatically comment.

I'm not saying people shouldn't be famous or not make money. But someone need to draw the line about how far is to far. When you watch the news statistics are showing more negativity in kids and young adults. Facebook pictures of high school girls all knocked up at the same time and people commenting asking who is going to drop their load first. (Wow). Even though reality TV may not be the cause all of the problems, but it does make some type of impact. When I watch some shows, I am embarrassed!  Sometimes its so bad that I cover my face in shame or leave out the room and come back. (As if they really can see me doing that lol). Seriously it is sad, if a martian, alien or some type of creature came down to see what people were like they would look at some of things that goes on as a disgrace. In conclusion, what make things so bad is that when a positive show do come on, people don't support it. They don't get many views or media time. When positive people try to make an impact so kids and young adults could have a different outlook on life it is ignored and swepted under the rug.

Newspaper

Newspapers! Newspapers! The Baltimore Sun, USA Today, Washington Post and New York Times. Most of the information that is in the newspaper is Politics battling Religion,  Religion battling politics, and democrats versus republicans.Who has the best food in town and what hospital screwed up.The other issues that are being mention in the paper is crime or a you tube video that has reached 1,000,000 hits. Which all can be access on the Internet. Mostly older people buy the newspaper because they don't have access to the Internet or unsure on how to work a computer. Some people buy the newspapers just to keep a hard copy of an memorable event that could have happen. Newspapers give local news on you neighborhood, while the media touch on generalized topics. Newspapers wont survive because technology is constantly growing and everything and everybody is trying to find a new to make things mobile. Most people today don't buy the newspaper because they have cell phones. Instead of waiting for the newspaper the very next day you save time and money by searching the news on your cell phone.

Air brush much

Magazines try to give you the illusion that celebrities, places, and things are the ideal image of perfection. If you do not possess those qualities or self image of those celebrities, you are not perfect. Some of these images want us to idolize these individuals and for us to aspire to be like them. Headlines on magazines are saying, “Look at the sexy socialite" and underneath the photo another headline saying, "She is perfect".  When you see this type of headline people may react by buying that outfit or to start exercising by running around the track to become tone and slim.
Even though magazines are supposed to be used for entertainment purposes, each magazine has a hidden agenda they want the viewer to see. Magazines can have a negative impact, especially the gossip magazines. Gossip magazines expose the negative aspect of a person life such as drinking, partying, and walking around half naked.  This is not the role model that we would want our kids, brothers and sisters to see. Men are represented as powerful and strong while woman is betrayed as a half naked accessory. Images that stand out to me are usually the ones that show the hot current trends. Usually I don't buy magazine. I save $4.53 or more by putting the magazine back on the shelf and go online to Google to find what I need instead bringing them home so that my daughter or my sisters would not  see very explicit pictures of half naked woman with a headline saying I am beautiful. People love embarrassing and demoralizing images that are deviance. It gives most of us something to talk about.  I'm assuming the message that would come across to me is that I would have to be half naked on a magazine and rich to be beautiful.
