About 2 or 3 months ago I found myself flipping the television trying to find something to watch on TV that would actually keep my full attention. I have never really looked at reality TV because I always found that everyone ended up looking ghetto or doing something that would embarrass themselves. I turned my channel to VH1 and I see the show Love & Hip hop Atlanta (LHHA). I caught the show in the middle and of course there goes Scrappy mother right there on the television. I started watching the show in disbelief that they would let this lady act like this on national television.
As I continue to watch the show, I sat there thinking to my self that this show has to be scripted and there is no way that we have gotten to this all time low to entertain people. Some of us look at shows, photos, videos and etc that have been out of the "NORM" but when it come to people private life's on television that's a different story. The arguing, fighting, and drinking all day isn't a normal life. Its not one reality show that I haven't seen a person not drinking or partying til they almost pass out. Its no longer private when you allowed them to air your personal life. We are making these people famous and potential role models for kids. ( NOT ME) They wouldn't be famous if we didn't entertain this foolishness.
Even though some of the reality TV stars say's that they are not role models and that's what they have they parents for. The statement alone shows you how ignorant some of them are. What make matters worse they have children. Most people are judgmental and find a way to attack the person rather it is a blogger, journalist or just some random person making a comment about the things that your going through in their personal life that is being exploited . Then in response from the so called TV stars they do interviews and post videos say they don't give a (you fill in the words) and that's my life its not for anyone to judge me. ( SMDH) But if you watch this 32 second clip you would automatically comment.
I'm not saying people shouldn't be famous or not make money. But someone need to draw the line about how far is to far. When you watch the news statistics are showing more negativity in kids and young adults. Facebook pictures of high school girls all knocked up at the same time and people commenting asking who is going to drop their load first. (Wow). Even though reality TV may not be the cause all of the problems, but it does make some type of impact. When I watch some shows, I am embarrassed! Sometimes its so bad that I cover my face in shame or leave out the room and come back. (As if they really can see me doing that lol). Seriously it is sad, if a martian, alien or some type of creature came down to see what people were like they would look at some of things that goes on as a disgrace. In conclusion, what make things so bad is that when a positive show do come on, people don't support it. They don't get many views or media time. When positive people try to make an impact so kids and young adults could have a different outlook on life it is ignored and swepted under the rug.
I like how you ended this blog, I strongly agree. We focus and give all our attention to the crap of reality tv, instead of something positive. You know because positive is boring and making a fool out of yourself is in these days... Weird what people can entertain themselves with nowadays. -Kopec
I dislike the fact people positive boring. Good example is when gabby Douglas won a gold medal and all people focus on was her hair. Its crazy how everyone always say we need better role models and then sit around and watch teen mom, Instead of watching something educational
I couldn't agree more that it is impossible to find a reality tv shore where the people aren't drinking. It kinda makes me feel that people believe you cannot go out and have fun without getting drunk. And youre right these shows are pure embarassment, but I still cant help but laugh at how stupid the people make themselves look.
LOL! You know what? I hate to admit it: I was so embarrassed for Momma Dee. B-i-c-t-h? How do you NOT know how to spell the word "bitch"?
Being from Georgia, and living in Atlanta for half of my life, there were some moments when I was watching "Love and Hip Hop - Atlanta" when I would cringe and just hang my head down low. I wanted to tell everyone I know that not all people from Atlanta act like that. And while I was watching that show, I felt bad for "characters" on the show?, that the love of money is making them get on television and act like senseless monkeys. I am just telling it the way that I see it.
On the other hand, I do find the show a bit "entertaining"..lol. So yes, I do feel conflicted and I do feel like I'm being a hypocrite to a certain extent. But who am I? I'm just a regular college student..lol!
Even though we find some type of humor in people embarrassing themselves its a shame that we this stuff entertaining. What happen to the natural funny people that didn't have to get drunk fight pull hair and sleep around with half of the cast just to make a dollar. Keva I know you watch lhha but come on I know you felt sorry for mimi and how stupid she looked at least if it wasn't on tv she could have hid being embarrassed by Stevie J. He saying either you going to ride my bus. What woman want to be demoralized like that. Yes we all have guilty pleasures on watching some shows but we have to try to set and example and support more positive things besides that.
